Wermlands Brygghus – a craft brewery located in Värmland, Sweden
The brewery was founded in 2012 by Hans Skan. It was the first craft brewery in Värmland and the first operating brewery in Kristinehamn since 1957, when the last operating brewery was taken over by Pripps and subsequently closed.
Brewing started in 2013 and the first beer brewed was the Wermlands Premiärbrygd, a traditional american pale Ale (APA). The first release at Systembolaget was Wermlands Ale on October 1st 2013.
As of 2023, the brewery has an assortment of around 15 beers, including a seasonal Christmas beer, specials, four low-alcoholic beers, a gin & tonic and gin.
Yearly production is estimated at over 100,000 liters for 2023.
Beer tasting in the brewpub and guided tours
Brewpub We have a brewpub where you can taste the beers that are produced in our brewery (but nothing else is served and we have no food). The brewpub is open from 17.00-20.00 every Friday during summer and some Fridays a month from 17.00-20.00 during the rest of the year. See dates and book here (choose English).
We also have drop-in. Address: Dalavägen 23. Se map.
Guided tours We also have guided tours of our brewery. Swedish laws concerning alcohol regulate these tours. A guided tour with beer tasting and food costs 475 SEK per person and can be booked any evening or weekend for groups of 10-25 people. Contact us if you are interested – mail or phone at +46-70-815 99 62.
Distribution is mostly limited to Värmland in central Sweden. The beers can be found at pubs, cafés, and restaurants. The low-alcohol beers can also be found at grocery stores in Värmland, and the standard alcohol beers can also be bought, when not included in the local standard assortment, through special order at Systembolaget. From 2018, beers from Wermlands Brygghus can be found at ten-fourteen of the Systembolaget stores in Värmland.
We have concentrated on ale of different kinds, but also have a Lager and a Pilsner. The beers are straightforward to like. They are also perfect with good food. Both private persons and companies can visit the brewery and taste the beer, either in the brewpub (see above) or on a private guided tour (see below).
